Meade Walking
Trail
Are you tired of walking on sloped streets and in areas that are dark? You’re not the only one! Meade County Coalition and community members are partnering to build a safe, smooth, well-lit walking trail that will promote social and physical activities for Meade County residents and the residents of the Lone Tree Retirement Home. Initially the trail will wrap around the retirement home and meander across the field south of the home. As additional funds become available, the trail will extend across Highway 54 and up towards the tennis courts of the High School. Our goal is to raise at least $65,000 within the next two years for the initial phase. The Coalition is raising funds through grants, fund raising projects, and donations. If you wish to donate to this worthy cause, you may mail your pledge to the hospital or drop off your pledge at the hospital or Meade State Bank. Please make your check payable to Meade County Coalition. Meade County Coalition is also requesting everyone from Meade to fill out a survey to determine our need for a walking trail. The survey can be found in your church bulletin, on-line here , or at any drop-off box located at the hospital, health department, Beam Center, Tom’s Jiffy Stop, Dart In, Moore’s and Alco. Please help us determine our initial needs by filling these surveys out (one per family please.) Please call Darcy Golliher at (620) 873-5541 if you have any questions or comments about our walking trail project or if you would like to become a member of our Coalition.
